Google Briefly Stopped Amazon Fire TV Stick From Exploiting YouTube Loophole
The feud betwixt Google and Amazon is past now long past the stage of getting fans excited and seated upright. The companies have been fighting for then long that users of their respective products but slump back in their chair and accept the condition quo.
However, if somehow you still don't know what is going on, basically, Amazon refused to sell Google Habitation products on its website and as a reaction Google removed the YouTube app from Amazon Fire Boob tube Stick services. However, as a daily Fire TV Stick user, the removal of YouTube didn't impact me much as but before YouTube app was removed, Amazon included an ingenious workaround.
Amazon collaborated with developers to launch ii new browsers, Firefox and Silk on its Burn TV app store. Users like me can easily admission YouTube using those browsers. In fact, if you lot are using Firefox browser, one time yous open the YouTube spider web app (which is conveniently added as a favorite page), the whole UI and experience is exactly similar to the native YouTube app.
However, it seems that Google has been communicable upwards with Amazon's workaround every bit the visitor briefly blocked the Silk browser from displaying the Idiot box-optimized interface normally shown on large screens. The news was showtime reported by The Verge which reads,
"Nosotros confirmed the Tv set interface wasn't working around 5:00 PM ET; by around vi PM, the TV interface had returned. Amazon declined to comment; Google didn't immediately respond to a request for annotate."
During the downtime, both Firefox and Silk browsers were unable to display Tv-optimized interface, instead, they were acting as if they were running on the desktop. So, you had to browse using the Fire Tv's remote, which if you have never used, is not exactly an easy thing to do. As well, yous had to manually hit the fullscreen button (only as y'all practise on a desktop) for making the video go full-screen.
Since both the companies accept denied commenting on the subject field, nosotros don't know if this was an accident or a pre-planned maneuver from Google. Whatever it was, no i tin can deny that the fight has taken another petty plow and needs to finish.
